Although there are a number of different
flea treatments available on the market
today that can be bought over the counter
some pet owner still prefer to use flea
medicine.
Flea medicine is available in pill or tablet
form that is given to your pet orally or you
may prefer the spray or spot on type where
you spray it straight onto your pets skin
surface so that it can be absorbed through
the skin. Most pet owners still choose this
form of treatment due to its proven
effectiveness.
Flea
medication differs in the way it treats
fleas on your pet and the way it is given to
your pet. Some treatments also treat other
parasites eg fleas, ear mites, and ticks
they also attack fleas at different stages
of there life-cycle ie the egg, larvae,
cocoon or fully grown adult stage. The thing
to remember is that killing the adult fleas
alone will not solve the problem as the
already laid eggs will still hatch and your
pet will soon be re infestered.

medication you should be certain
that your pet does have fleas.
It is easy just to presume that
your pet has fleas just because
you have seen them scratching
but this is not always the case
so you must be certain. Other
causes of your pat scratching
could be down to food allergies
so you will need to check all
possibilities.
Before you start using flea
medication you must be sure that
your pet is in good health. Your
pet must not be too over weight
or too under weight and must not
be suffering with any other
condition at the time you wish
to use flea medication. If your
pet is in good health and you
choose to start using flea
medicine then it is best to find
a flea medicine that suits your
pet and you then stick to the
same kind each time you need to
treat your pet for fleas. To get
the best results by using the
flea treatment you must only
give your pet the recommended
dose and you must never overdose
as this could be harmful to your
pet. By giving your pet more
than required will not make the
treatment work any quicker or be
more effective.
Once you have
started treating your pet then it is best to
keep a close eye on them to make sure they
don't have a reaction to the treatment.
Sometimes flea treatments can make your pet
unwell and may cause vomiting, diarrhoea,
seizures or breathlessness, so be sure to
monitor them and contact the vet if you
think your pet has become unwell.
